Study mount but needs to be less thick.

I ordered and received two mounts that were to be used to mount resin cabinets. But they make mounted item too far from wall. I ended up removing heavy hooks off two slat hooks and fastened them to cabinet.

        How it works

It would be helpful to have a demonstration or at least a description of how this actually works. It doesn’t even come with instructions. I placed a piece of 2x4 vertically in the center of the “T,” between the front and back panels (it fits very snug). I then drilled holes in the metal to the exact diameter of the screws provided, in the locations required to hang my tv mount. I pre-drilled smaller pilot holes into the wood, then screwed the tv mount to the proslat universal mount. Finally, I had to use a grinder to cut off the end of the screws; they were too long and so would not allow the mount to sit flush against the proslat wall. At the end of the day, it works great, but it’s no small effort to put it all together. Based on your style of tv mount, I assume you could also put the 2x4 block horizontally across the top of the “T” as well.

Hi Michael, thank you for the 5 star review. We apologize for not having any instructions on this bracket but our challenge is every type of mount is different so it would be difficult to explain. We noticed you added wood in your bracket which is good but not necessary. Our universal mount is thick enough to simply drill your hole and use a short bolt with a lock nut. The nut will be between the front steel and the backplate so you won't need to grind anything off.
